Thoughts about bullying....

Im back- after a MUCH needed blog break-- and a lot of new changes for my family with this New year. But we are excited about them- and are back in the swing of things.
OKAY parents... Let's hear your take on bullying.

bully:
group of bullies:
one being bullied:
teachers of bullies:
parents of bullies:
where responsibility lies:
schools role in dealing with/reacting to bullies:

I am interested to hear ANY experiences you might have had in this area- and/or suggestions you have for each of those involved in this type of scenario. It can be a sad situation, and I don't really believe there is 1 RIGHT answer, every situation is different-- but I would love to hear opinions.

Magic of Tabasco

I have never used a method like this on one of my kids when they have misbehaved, sad unkind things, or anything like that. But my husband and I both felt like we needed to step it up. My 3 yr old son has been MORE than pushing the limits, and was just plain not listening. TOO often. We decided that a good consequence would be to give him a drop or 2 of lemon juice when he chose not to listen/obey. So we followed through- but the plan bit us in the face... he says, "Ummmm..... I like this dad, this is good. so HA!"

Anger grew inside us. Same response to lime juice. We knew we were left with no choice but to step it up to something stronger- Tabasco. His first time being given it- he began to say the same thing, "Mom, I kinda like this.....wait.....YUCK!" as he is hitting his tongue... "I don't like this mom!"

MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!! He hasn't gotten ANY more since that first time- when I told him he needed to listen and obey the FIRST time , and he has done just that. Why didn't I think of this soon??

PS- I had to giggle a little when I heard Rylie asking him if he had to take it and if he likes it- and he said "No way Rylie. I do NOT like that stuff. I am being good." hahahahaha.....

Is Summer really over? really??

I think this summer was cut short... :) Seems like it to me! nevertheless, fall is here and it is back to school time. Here's a little information:

1) As your child gets older, it costs MORE money to register them. I had to pay $140 for just REQUIRED fees for my 9th grader.... talk about nuts! so start saving now....

2) If there is choice of A or B track for your student, studies show that both the teacher teaches better and the student learns better on A track. Yes it is early, yes it is hard, but well worth it. A hole 1.5 hours with half the size of the class.

3) How much do you spend on back to school supplies? Elementary aged kids? Junior high aged kids? high school aged kids? I think the lists get longer and longer.....
4) How many of your kids LIKE and EAT the school lunches? How often does your child want to pack a lunch instead?

Time to get the the alarms set.... summer must really be over.

Sorry folks... I turned into a busy mom for a while-

but now I am not overly busy- so I have time to blog!

ok-- here are some summer questions for you:

1) Best brand and and SPF of sunblock for your babies/kids/teens/US- parents

2) Do you buy them new every summer? or use the what you have left?

3) How much water should kids be drinking in the summer, while spending over 3 a day, hours outside in the sun?

4) Public pool rules- even if you child is potty trained, kinds under 3 (i think, varies by state) has to wear a swim diaper... ???

ready, set....... give me your opinion!!!

:) and happy summer to come!

Correcting speak

I know it's not always PROPER, but it's soo dang cute!

My lil 3 year old guy says, "Yeah am is!"
Instead of yes I am... :)

If I say, "That's not funny- don't do that with your food."
He says, "Yeah am is Mom! It is funny!"

HOW can I not crack a smile?
this is one of the things I want to stay for a while...
Makes me smile each and every time he says it. without fail.

BOYS will be BOYS

Do ALL boys have to pee randomly?
in random places?
What is the BIG idea with this?

Playing outside, my 3 yr old decides to just take a little "pee" break on the side of our house,
the bathroom is about 20 feet away,
the doors are open,

WHY???

I just don't understand it..

Change of Heart

Ever since My husband and I good our BIG trip together for 6 days,
My youngest lil guy has been "testing the waters" more than normal.
By that I mean, been HORRIBLE in every possible way... A.L.L. D.A.Y. L.O.N.G.

I was loving with him, playing with him- that didn't matter.
It was like he was determined to get me back for leaving him,
or see if the Rules would be different now.

Funny thing is that he had fun while I was gone-- wasn't crying for me or anything.
He was well taken care of my his Grandma.

I survived the first few days of the test--
and I am beginning to think my sweet boy is back- HOORAY!
maybe it's just a 3 year old thing....

Have your kids ever done this?

If so, how do you handle it?
